I’ve ripped on the doubled standards of liberals before and I’m pretty sure I’ve said it wouldn’t be the last time. Well, I’m at it again. It’s no secret I don’t like liberals. Could that change? Possibly, but don’t hold your breath. What ticks me off most about liberals, despite their lack of morals or ethics, is the double standards. A fetus is just an animal but you don’t hear PETA screaming “Choose life!” Single moms are deserving of admiration, until they decide to actually raise the child then they’re demeaning themselves. Here’s some irony for you, people in Obama’s administration are telling the states to live within their means. When these people talk, it reminds me that light travels faster than sound and this is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. Speaking of idiots, how Al Franken won, I’ll never know. I guess Will Rodgers was right when he said “Everything is changing. People are taking their comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke.” Then again it seems anyone with a connection to ACORN can gain an advantage in politics these days. I wonder why nobody is taking a serious step in investigating them? But I digress, back to the topic at hand. Liberal double standards.
As you may have read in a previous blog of mine, Sarah Palin is resigning as Governor of Alaska. So, without hesitation, the liberals, and some republicans even, are calling this a bad move. The attacks are hot and heavy. Sarah Palin is a quitter, they say. Well, how about some consistency from her political pugilists? I know it’s a lot to ask, and frankly I know it’ll never happen, so let me add the consistency for them.
Let’s start with Sarah Palin. In 2006 Sarah Palin (R) makes history by becoming Alaska’s youngest Governor in the state’s history. In 2008 she accepted the nomination to be John McCain’s running mate on the Republican ticket for president. July 3rd 2009 she announces she will not seek re-election as Alaska’s governor and will resign as of July 26th. In her own words she’s doing what’s best for Alaska and in quoting General MacArthur said, “We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.” She’s quitting early to pursue something more productive. Not that other politicians have ever done that. Oh wait, yes they have.
2005 Barack Obama is sworn into office as the junior United States Senator for Illinois (D). In 2006 Barack, during an interview on Meet the Press is asked “So you will not run for president or vice president in 2008?” His response? “I will not.” In 2004 Obama said “I think I’ve been very clear…There’s a presidential election in four years. I’m not running for president in four years. I’ve said I think it’s a silly question.” That video used to be on YouTube but they have all been removed. Odd isn’t it. Also in 2004 he said “I am a believer in knowing what you’re doing when you apply for a job. And, I think that if I were to seriously consider running on a national ticket I would essentially have to start now before having served a day in the Senate. Now, there are some people who may be comfortable doing that, but I’m not one of those people.” In 2007 Obama takes his first step in a run for the White House. In 2008 Obama resigns as senator of Illinois 3 years before his term was up. He is quoted as saying, “Today, I am ending one journey to begin another,…” So Obama was a quitter and a liar. Was he not? He was elected senator and abandoned his state, just like liberals claim Palin is doing now. Come out with it liberals, let’s be consistent, Obama is a quitter and a liar.
Obama isn’t the only politician to abandon their state before their term was up to pursue something else, like Palin is accused of doing. If we’re consistent with our attacks, we’d call Janet Napolitano a quitter as well. She was first elected Governor of Arizona in 2002, won re-election in 2004, and promptly abandoned her state in 2008 when Obama nominated her to the Department of Homeland Security. Janet Napolitano was a quitter. Shame on her. Kathleen Sebelius was first elected Governor of Arizona in 2003, got re-elected in 2006, and left her post in 2009 when Obama nominated her to fill the Health and Human Services vacancy. Such quitters these people are! They were elected to serve their states and abandoned the very people that elected them so they could pursue other ventures. How dare them.
I know what some of you liberals and thinking, and I hope you’re not hurting yourselves doing it, I know it’s not something you have much practice in doing. You’re going to claim that they all quit their jobs to pursue other jobs and Palin is quitting for no reason or no good reason. Palin has made it clear that she IS pursuing something else and it is something relevant to Alaskans and all Americans. Let’s face it, all the 18 bogus ethics complaints, 15 of which are now dismissed, are costing her and Alaskans money. The constant attacks on her and her family from liberals everywhere are vitriolic, hateful, and just plain mean spirited. Not something I find shocking coming from the mouth of a liberal, mind you. I’d find it hard to focus on Alaskans too if I had to deal with all that. She’s not quitting Alaskans. She’s stepping down as Governor, handing the reigns over to someone very much qualified for the job, and pursuing a different course in which to serve Alaskans. Not that she said that…oh wait, she did.
“And there is such a need to build up and fight for our state and our country. I choose to fight for it! And I’ll work hard for others who still believe in free enterprise and smaller government; strong national security for our country and support for our troops; energy independence; and for those who will protect freedom and equality and life… I’ll work for and campaign for those proud to be American, and those who are inspired by our ideals and won’t deride them.
I will support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the right reasons, and I don’t care what party they’re in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska.
But I won’t do it from the Governor’s desk.
I’ve never believed that I, nor anyone else, needs a title to do this – to make a difference… to help people. So I choose, for my State and my family, more “freedom” to progress, all the way around… so that Alaska may progress… I will not seek re-election as Governor.
And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn’t run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks… travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade – as so many politicians do. And then I thought – that’s what’s wrong – many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and “milk it”. I’m not putting Alaska through that – I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! That’s not how I am wired. I am not wired to operate under the same old “politics as usual.” I promised that four years ago – and I meant it.
It’s not what is best for Alaska.
I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is unconventional and not so comfortable.
With this announcement that I am not seeking re-election… I’ve determined it’s best to transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor Parnell; and I am willing to do so, so that this administration – with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future – can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success.
My choice is to take a stand and effect change – not hit our heads against the wall and watch valuable state time and money, millions of your dollars, go down the drain in this new environment. Rather, we know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time, on another scale, and actually make a difference for our priorities – and so we will, for Alaskans and for Americans.”
Wake up liberals, and you rinos out there that continue to dismiss and try to diminish Sarah Palin. She is strong, she is a fighter, she is…well, as Ann Coulter put it, “She has everything you can’t get from books, you can’t get from experience. She has heart and soul and absolute integrity, and charisma, and holds the crowd rapt.”
Sarah Palin is very smart, despite the idiotic remarks of liberals that call her a dumb redneck. Try something new libs, move away from ad hominem attacks and prove she is what you say. Show me something other than your opinion. I have a feeling I won’t hear anything from you for quite a while. Palin is smart, she is and will seek the best course of action. She will do what’s right even if it’s not easy or comfortable or accepted by the elite. She will keep fighting, and she will be a powerful voice for conservatives for years to come. And liberal heads will continue to explode.
